PERSONALITY
Imagine Naruto running Velma Dinkley programming, with a Sora Kingdom-Hearts subroutine, and you've got Dae in a nutshell. Dae is constantly extolling the power of love and friendship and [found] family. His favorite thing in the world is spouting off dope-ass shit when he's fighting - he learned from The Alchemighty that it's as much about strength and aptitude in battle as it is about PRESENTATION!
HISTORY
Dae was raised by super heroes.
His parents belonged to a band of adventurers called The Alchemighty, who heavily favored magic to, you know, kill bad guys and save damsels and fight evil dragons and stuff. Like a fae do. They made a pretty big name for themselves in the Feywild, and some of their good deeds spilled over into the Prime Material Plane, depending on their whims.
They were kind of a big deal.
At the height of their fame and strength, Dae's biological parents, Thalia and Kieran, wouldn't let a pesky thing like child-rearing get in their way. While they took a necessary break to give Thalia the time she needed to give birth to Dae, Thalia and Kieran were quick to get back to work. They weren't complete trashbags about it, though. They didn't just abandon a tiny, defenseless Dae with a sitter while they fought the forces of evil.
No, no, no. They took him with them!
Dae had the sort of life that any child might envy, filled with action, adventure, and intrigue. He was kidnapped a couple of times, but it was whatever. The Alchemighty all had a hand in raising him, and while Thalia and Kieran were his biological parents, he felt just as close to his Aunts and Uncle. They nurtured his magical talents and his skills with the sword, expecting him to one day become a full-fledged member - and eventually, to take over and bring honor to the name Alchemighty.
Sometime in his 50s - very young by Eladrin standards - The Alchemighty stumbled upon an evil plot: a cult worshipping the demon lord Orcus sought to rip open a portal to the Shadowfell, allowing the undead and shadowy creatures to run rampant on the Prime Material Plane.
(I shamelessly stole this plot from the 4e adventure, Keep on the Shadowfell: https://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/H1.pdf
Enjoy.)
An epic battle ensued, and while the Alchemighty were able to kill the cultists, their leader escaped, and the ritual to open the portal was on its way to completion.
With the portal yawning wider and wider and legions of undead pushing through, Thalia and Kieran teleported Ryo, Shael, Elmon, and Dae to safety and stayed behind to sabotage the ritual.
And by "sabotage," I mean they blew up the portal and the dungeon, killing the undead who had made it through the portal and sacrificing themselves in the process.
The loss of Thalia and Kieran shattered the team, and while the remaining members still believed in their mission of righting wrongs and keeping people safe, they could never reach the same heights. Their hearts were no longer in it, and some 20 years later, they all hung up their swords (or their magic crystals, or whatever it was they wielded) and called it quits.
Dae had other ideas, and 20 years after his aunts' and uncle's retirement, now with more training under his belt, he told his aunts and uncle his plan. With their blessing, Dae set out to revive the name of the Alchemighty and continue their good work. At this point, he's only been wandering for about two years with only modest success, and he's finally realized what he's lacking: a good team.
